If you’ve need some sort of task manager and also found they over complex and structured All in One task manager to annoying and bloated to use, then you’re in luck. This useful app, MiniTask provides a simple interface with a useful manager.

With MiniTask, you can insert in task you have to do, and once you’ve completed it, you just click on they task, a tick appears next to it. Simple? Not only that, you can set a alarm for when the task should be done by or when something needs to start - however you want to you it. When the alarm goes off, the task uses a smooth blinking animation. Just turn off the alarm and do what you have to do.

You can also set separators to put tasks into categories, somewhat GTD. You can also copy the task list out, copy in or even print it if you want. All this in a small simple interface hence MiniTask.

Oh, just one more thing, this is an Adobe AIR app so you are gonna have to install Adobe AIR in order to use this. Works with all platforms, Windows, Linux, Mac with Adobe AIR installed.

Photoshop as real as it gets

During my usual browsing of the web, I found this image which I found interesting. I don’t know if it’s a advertising campaign or just someone who had a lot of free time on their hands to make this, but it is very interesting. What is it?

It’s Photoshop - as real as it gets. A picture of the Photoshop interface using real life objects. Take a look here at Flickr

Ubuntu 8.10 is released

For those who are Linux fans out there, well guess what? Actually don’t, because you’ll get it right.

Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex is out of beta and has been released. Of what I know, I believe there is a new theme added, some rough edges fixed up, a Bootable USB Maker for portability, 3G and Wifi upgrades and some other things. You can find it at Ubuntu’s main site

For anyone who doesn’t know what Ubuntu is, it is an Operating System like Windows or Mac OSx. But it is free and open source. It is based on the main Linux engine.

DIY a Blender Defender

Blender Defender - all set up

Blender Defender - all set up

I found this quite hilarious and quite a useful way to keep your cat off the kitchen table from eating those plants. It’s the Blender Defender.

You’re asking “what is a Blender Defender?”, or probably not, but it is a DIY device to keep your cat off the kitchen table. The idea is, using a motion sensing network camera, a blender and lights, everytime the cat jumps onto the kitchen table, the blender turns on and the lights start flashing scaring the the the crap out of the cat. It’ll learn not to do it again next time.

So, if you have a naughty cat, some spare stuff hanging round the house or a load of spare cash and a free weekend, you might want to consider making this - or something similar.
